The second release from Floyd’s upcoming album ‘To those in flames’, produced by ARIA award-winning producer Marty Brown (Art of Fighting, Clare Bowditch), comes from a place of peace and contentment.
It is, literally, a universal experience to lie on your back and look up at the stars on a clear night. An experience of connection with the earth as it presses into your back, of connection with the millions of people who have the same view when they look up to the sky, and of connection to the millions of stars flying through a space without up or down, without north or south: a space through which our world also flies.
This song was written after Floyd left his job as a lawyer and started work singing songs for senior citizens in nursing homes. It feels great to earn a living making people happy and reliving memories of amazing songs from the last 100 years. The contentment in these lyrics shows how great it is to do something you love.
Floyd's new album 'To those in flames' is scheduled for release in late 2019.
Lie down, down on the ground, look at the sky tonight
Lie still, here in the grass, stare at the sky tonight
We’re gonna take a ride, a long long ride together
We’re gonna fly far, as far as old star light
Has taken on its perfect line of flight
Seasons come and seasons go
And no one knows the time except the sun
But everyone
Yes everyone can see the stars tonight
Lie down, down on the ground, look at the lonely moon
Lie still, here in the grass, stare at the lonely moon
We’re gonna take a ride, a long long ride together
We’re gonna fly high, as high as the moon in June
On chords of this familiar tune
Seasons come and seasons go
And no one knows the time except the sun
But everyone
Yes everyone can see the stars tonight
Sit by me, lean a little closer into my arms tonight
Sit here, lean a little closer into my loving arms
We’re gonna find the time to sing to the sky together
We’re gonna take the time to sing that rhyme
Remember all the lines we never learned
Seasons come and seasons go
And no one knows the time except the sun
But everyone
Yes everyone can see the stars tonight
